Two-Day Event to Culminate with Release of proceedings of the conference on sustainable construction methodologies
Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority (DTMFZA), the sole independent regulator of Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone, is co-organizing ‘Future Concrete 2011 and the Environmental Construction Exhibition’ in association with Advanced Construction and Technology Services (ACTS), a regional consulting organization in the field of construction materials and geotechnical engineering.
The event will take place at the DIFC Ritz Carlton Hotel, Dubai, from 13-14 December and culminate with the release of a region-wide industry report that will also summarize the event’s outcomes.
Eng. Mohamed Al Bahri, Executive Director, Development Control Department, DTMFZA, Government of Dubai, said: “The eco-friendliness of raw materials, especially when it comes to a widely-used building material such as concrete, is of significant importance in increasing the element of sustainability in the construction sector. We are happy to be co-organizing ‘Future Concrete’, which is an ideal platform for innovators and industry leaders to come together to discuss innovation that can drive this transition.”
The event aims to raise the bar on the sustainable use of concrete and eco-friendly technology and practices in the local and regional construction sector. It will also serve as a platform for more than 35 international concrete construction experts to share insights on advanced construction materials, innovative practices and smart construction models. A spectrum of relevant issues will be addressed such as concrete’s role in sustainability standards, relevant rating systems, case studies in construction sustainability that have yielded measurable returns, and the growing part concrete recycling can occupy in reducing Dubai’s ecological footprint.
The event comes at a time when the global market for green building materials is projected to reach US$406 billion by 2015, fuelled mainly by increasing environmental consciousness, high energy costs, and a better understanding of the long-term benefits of green buildings such as improved efficiency, cost savings and higher production.
Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority (DTMFZA) was established in the year 2000 under the directive of the Ruler of Dubai. It was mandated to approve the establishment and registration of companies in the free zone, as well as regulate all related procedures and matters including incorporation, registration and liquidation. DTMFZA also presents and organizes one of the UAE’s most prestigious cultural initiatives, the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF).
