50 China-Based Biotechnology Companies Attend DuBiotech Gala Dinner
Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park (DuBiotech), a majorlife sciences hub in the Middle East and a member of TECOM Investments,hosted a gala dinner for China-based biotechnology companies.
His Excellency Gao Youzhen, Consul General of China in the UAE, Marwan Abdulaziz, Director of Business Development at DuBiotech, senior TECOM representatives, as well as a number of DuBiotech’s existing and potential business partners attended the gala evening.
During the event, Marwan Abdulaziz highlighted DuBiotech’s value-added offerings to business partners. The dinner came as an outcome of DuBiotech’sroadshow in China during October 2011, which included a visit to 30 companies in Shanghai and Beijing.
Marwan Abdulazizsaid: “During our visit to China last year, we perceived high interest among the companies there towards the biotech industry in the UAE, particularly DuBiotech. We are glad that we could take that interest to the next level and today we have with us some leading healthcare, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies from China that are keen to explore the market and network with experts in the industry. At DuBiotech, we believe that China’s biotechnology expertise will not only prove a great addition to our portfolio, but will also support the UAE’s vision of strengthening the economic synergy between the two countries.”
Launched in 2005, DuBiotech offers a streamlined and facilitating environment for major players in the life sciences industry to set up their operations and access the fast growing, emerging markets of the region. In 2010, DuBiotech opened the high-tech Nucleotide Laboratory complex and warehousing facilities. The park currently hosts over 86 life sciences companies including Pfizer, Amgen, Merck Serono,Bristol-Myers Squibb, MAQUET, Genzyme, Firmenich and IFF.
