Compliance Policy

All Business Partners and companies incorporated in the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone, including its employees, must comply with the rules, regulations and all applicable policies and standards of the Free Zone.

DTMFZA aims to regulate the Dubai Technology & Media Free Zone industries in the context of sustainable industry development and is committed to the following general principles of good enforcement practice:

  • Proportionate: DTMFZA only intervenes when necessary. Remedies are appropriate to the risk posed, and costs identified and minimised. Burdens on the regulated are appropriate to the  risk posed
  • Accountable: DTMFZA is accountable to the public for the efficiency and effectiveness of our regulatory decisions
  • Consistent: DTMFZA ensures that rules and standards are joined up and implemented fairly
  • Transparent: DTMFZA is open about the way we do things, and keep regulations simple and user-friendly
  • Targeted: DTMFZA regulation is focused on the problem and minimises side effects

DTMFZA seeks effective partnership working and we focus our efforts on raising awareness and helping businesses to comply with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.  However, DTMFZA will exercise their enforcement powers for the purpose of securing compliance, where necessary.

We conduct periodical inspections and respond to complaints.  Where there is a breach of regulatory requirements, our enforcement actions include warnings, financial penalties, suspension or revocation of licenses, variation of license conditions and prosecution.
