DTMFZA

Media Regulations

DTMFZA established the Broadcast and Publishing Standards Tribunal (BPST), with the aim of creating an environment that guarantees freedom of expression for media companies. This independent Tribunal adjudicates issues related to the appropriateness of media content produced by broadcasters and publishers in the Free Zone. The Tribunal does not act as a general filter for content, nor as a censorship authority. There is no requirement for broadcasters and publishers in The Free Zone to send content for approval.

Supplementing the Broadcasting and Publication Standards Tribunal (BPST) are the BPST Regulations and their associated Codes of Guidance that provide guidelines to Free Zone companies on the appropriateness of content they produce. These regulations and Codes ensure a transparent framework for broadcasters and publishers, avoiding regulatory double jeopardy.
